Happy 9 Month Birthday

Woohoo!  9 months!!!  Our little girl is getting so big.  Well, not exactly.  Some of you know that I've been worried about Amelia's weight and size.  This kid is so small!  I keep trying to beef her up a bit without luck.  Tomorrow we have her 9 month check up and her pediatrician wants to do some blood work to make sure her thyroid is working properly.  Hopefully everything will come back fine and the tests will show that we have a petite baby.  I'll make sure to post updates as soon as I know something.  In the meantime, I'm resorting to feeding her avocado at least once per day:)  When can I start feeding her milk shakes and french fries?

Happy 9 Month Birthday, little monkey!  We love you so much!!!

Driving her new Jeep Liberty.  Seriously - it's a Jeep Liberty.

Where are the brakes on this thing?

Watch out Buggy!

Playdate at Amelia's Crib

You've seen the photos of all the babies from my office.  Now it was time for Amelia and I to host the playdate.  All went well and the bebes had fun.  The dynamic is changing so much because now we have 4 of the kids who are 13 months old and two of those are walking!  This is a big deal for our group.  No longer can we keep them contained to a small area on the rug.  It was a little nerve racking for me because I realized how much more baby-proofing needs to be done to our house.  Every bang or knock sent my heart racing.  I would do a frantic look around to see what kid got loose and was anyone crying or hurt.  I don't know if I'm ready for Amelia to be that mobile.

Amelia with her buddy Ava - check out those pig tails!!

Martin's Birthday

On April 19th, Martin turned 31!  Happy Birthday!!!  For his birthday I decided to surprise him bringing Amelia to his work wearing a San Francisco Giants dress! For those of you who don't know Martin very well, he's an SF Giants fanatic!  Now we have a mini Giants fan in the family.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!

Bluebonnets & more teeth

Every spring in Texas, families go in search of the best spot to take photos of their kids and pets in a vast field of wild flowers and Bluebonnets.  They really make for beautiful photos.  So now that I have my own family, I too was in search of a good spot for the perfect photo.  Martin and I found a nice spot close to our house (lots of people trek up to the hill country near Austin for the best places).  I was a bit lazy about it and just wanted a nice photo without a lot of hassle.  It was a smart move because Amelia was not in the best mood.  The weekend we did these photos she was cutting two teeth on the top of her mouth.  As you will see in these pics, she was not too thrilled with me setting her down in a field of grass.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

Mommy to the rescue

Trying to make Baby happy

Finally - a semi happy Amelia

Some other recent accomplishments - she now has 6 teeth (four on top, two on bottom).  She's crawling but hasn't quite mastered doing it on her hands and knees.  She shakes her head "No" at me which is really funny right now.  Not only does she shake her head, but she also simultaneously waves her hand so it looks like she's really telling you off - definitely my child. And I wish I could say that she's getting bigger, but apparently not.  Martin took her in this week to the pediatrician (she got pink-eye) and she only weighed 15 lbs 4 oz with all of her clothes on.  This was a bit of a shock because both of us thought she felt heavier recently.  Alas, she is a small child and we have to be happy with her spot in the 7th percentile of weight.

Doesn't she look big?

Easter

Easter was quiet and nice.  We spent it with my family eating lots of good food and enjoying good company.  Our camera broke the day before so we don't have any pics.  Hopefully one of my sisters will come through with some.  But I did get some a few days later when we got a camera.

Amelia got a basket of toys, books and plastic eggs from the Easter Bunny.  Her favorites were the cheap plastic eggs.

She liked her sock monkey too.

This pic has nothing to do with Easter, but it's pretty awesome.

Happy 8 Month Birthday

Our little girl is growing up! She’s now 8 months old and is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. I now know what it means to look at your child and think that they are the most beautiful being in the world. Martin and I definitely have good “baby-making” genes. Some of her recent accomplishments:

• Says “ma-ma-ma-ma” and “da-da-da-da” repeatedly. Although it’s definitely not directed at any one person yet.

• Scoots very quickly. She’s not crawling yet, but she has places to go and can get there in a few short movements. We can no longer just let her sit on the bed without being there to block her.

• She’s eating 3 solids per day in addition to her bottles. On the weekends I have a baby food factory going by preparing all of her solids and then freezing them. Her foods include avocado, sweet potato, pears, peaches, bananas, carrots, butternut squash, mango and tofu among others.

I should also add that she’s developing some other interesting habits. She’s had a few temper tantrums when we’ve taken away a toy or object that she has claimed hers. She doesn’t like all strangers and has cried the last two swim lessons when she has to swim alone with the instructor.

These past 8 months have been so much fun!  Definitely some challenges along the way, but nothing worth while is easy.  Happy 8 Month Birthday, Amelia!  We love you so much!

We also need to give a shout out to Amelia's new cousin Tildyn Grace Andrews who was born on March 21st!  I can't wait until we can get the girls together!
