This is our attempt to stay closer to our friends and family by blogging about the events of our lives. We hope you will enjoy all of our postings:)
Where are we? Right now, Martin, Bug, Dexter & I are sitting on the couch watching a basketball game while I begin to chronicle our lives. Of course, I'm writing and Martin is watching the game. Most likely this will be the norm, me the author and him the observer. However, I will make him post once in a while.
What's going on in our lives right now? Well, the most significant event in recent months is getting pregnant. This has taken our lives in an exciting direction. For those of you who don't know, Martin and I got engaged on November 8th, 2008. About 4 weeks later... we found out we were pregnant. By our calculations, the magical date had to be our engagement evening. Martin doesn't do anything half way! During those few weeks, we had begun to plan for a Fall 09 wedding. However, once we found out that we would be parents around July 30th, 2009, the grand wedding plans didn't seem as important. So, we did what any respectable couple in our situation would do - ditched our friends and family and headed for the nearest 24 hour wedding chapel. Actually, it wasn't quite like that. We planned a lovely weekend in Austin and got married at Zilker Botanical Gardens in Austin. It was perfect! Besides getting married and getting pregnant (not in that order), we have also moved. Hopefully all that are reading this have our new address. If not, don't call us, we'll call you. Moving was a bit necessary since we only had a one bedroom condo before. Now we're in a cute 2 bedroom house in a historic area of Houston. It's very charming and has all kinds of quirks. If you come to visit us from out of town, Martin will be more than happy to take you to a local pub called the Petrol that used to be a filling station. Pretty cute place, good beer. I can't talk about beer too long, because I'm in serious need of one right now. Alright, so we've covered marriage, pregnancy and move (again, not in that order)... what else? Oh yeah - did anyone know that Turner graduated from Rice with his MBA? Probably not since he has trouble communicating important facts about our lives to friends and family. He failed to mention even to me the actual date of the commencement ceremony until one week prior. "Thanks, Turner." What else am I forgetting...? I think that's it. But, shit, I think that's enough.
To bring you up to speed, I'm 7 months pregnant and due on July 30th. If you haven't signed into our "Baby Pool" to place your bets on the stats of the baby, please do so:
http://bebepool.com/turnerbabyI'll give you a hint - it's a girl. Of course, even this is not 100% for certain.
We'll try to keep this blog updated with moderate frequency - just enough to keep you entertained but not too much to annoy the crap out of you. Check in when you can and we promise to upload photos of us, the dogs and baby when she arrives.
