Parent - Teacher Conference
The other day Martin and I had our first Parent - Teacher conference. Yes, Amelia is only one year old, but apparently this is standard. It was a quick chat about Amelia's progress at school, what she learns and how she interacts with the other kids. She's gotten a lot better since her first couple of weeks at the new school. She no longer cries when we drop her off and she's almost always in a good mood when we pick her up. They're still working with her on being nice to other kids. Now we work on saying things like "my space" which is how they keep the kids from scratching and hitting each other and "gentle touches" which is what they say when the kids are being aggressive and scratching or hitting. "Gentle touches" also includes us petting the face to let her know how to play nice with her friends. It works pretty good with the dogs too. Poor Buggy has tolerated some serious abuse from Amelia. She likes to pull his fur, poke his eyes and ears and use him as a chair. Overall the meeting went well and all is good. We like her school and her teachers and they seem to love her.
